we make t’s that please; gregg mcphedrain

i moved to albuquerque new mexico from detroit michigan in the spring of 2010. my friend worked for the new mexico partnership, an economic development firm that brings companies and jobs to the state. michigan had an unemployment rate of 18% new mexico was 8%.

after spending 5 months looking for design work, talking to ad agencies and people – i had made some excellent contacts, found consulting work – but full time work eluded me.

i observed like detroit – the clothing companies here in albuquerque were all selling the same ‘gangsta’ or ‘albuquerque’ clothing with sparkles to tourist. i had worked seven years along side the robert stanzler (made in detroit clothing) and watched robert – through his sales at summer events, and through the unique positive designs he adorned his clothing with – changed the image of the city. robert exported his clothes around the world.

i decided to do the same thing. i designed several samples and showed my friend lea who thought it was a ‘brilliant’ idea. 8 months later i’ve incorporated, am a vendor for albuquerque and other cities around the united states. the company is starting to attend a variety of summer events have created multiple charity lines of shirts for different companies; itt quote unquote, nm make a wish foundation, and carrie tingley children’s hospital.

slow and steady, event by event the albuquerque clothing company – making a difference one t-shirt at a time by pushing albuquerque’s unique history, people and businesses. we make t’s that please.
