The Benefit of Questioning Your Dreams

you tell me to dream and then turn around and tell me I should question the dream … what the hell?

yes, that is exactly what i’m suggesting we do!  not because a dream is wrong, or to make you question the act of having dreams but sometimes we get so caught up in shooting for a dream literally that the concept of the dream gets lost in translation.  for instance, I’ve told you the story of leaving houston and heading off to a new frontier … but if I had never questioned my first dream of living in houston I would have never moved on and found an even better (for me) dream.

when we achieve the ‘dream’ it may not always be what was in our heads, even though I loved the city of houston it wasn’t fulfilling like I had imagined.  but I had achieved my dream, or what I thought was my lifelong dream.

it’s worth examining the concept of teaching ourselves and our children to question their dreams once they’ve achieved them, just because you have the golden ring doesn’t mean it was exactly what you envisioned … it may be better or may still be missing a piece.

recently in working diligently on a dream years in the making, this lifestyle of freedom comprised of  having multiple locations across the country that i can visit at will to play at and work from because my business is ‘location neutral’.  in the process of the pieces coming together i learned a few things about myself (which a dream rarely unveils until they become a reality) and about the amount of organization this would take.  it doesn’t mean I throw the dream out, but because I began to question the original dream.

i learned that it is extremely difficult to find clarity and stay clear if you’re bouncing around creating new connections and being inspired by new ideas all the time. and that true friendships deserve the time and attention in order to bring their full potential in to the lives of everyone in that relationship.  last but not least i have come to realize there are far more pieces to the puzzle of multiple locations than originally perceived … all of these lessons are fine and they do not change the dream, but they do change the course that was originally laid out.

this is a good thing, because now as i get even closer to the dream, it has more potential to be an even more amazing experience!
