in the blink of an eye

gladwell has done it again, i went to the bookstore to buy the millionaire messenger book and blink just caught my eye. in fact it was one of those moments where i knew i was not leaving that bookstore without blink! blink is an extensive look into the psychology of why and how we make snap judgments, and just useful they are (and aren’t).  the case studies are fascinating and eye-opening as to how our life of experiences and social proof can be seen in our snap judgments no matter how hard we try to hide them. does the book

becoming an expert from your past

brandon burchard does a great job of sharing his story and outlining a strategy of how just about anyone, given they have the will and stamina, can go from rags to riches by becoming an expert.  i personally fell in to this filed of ‘expert’ after about 5 years in the search engine optimization field and found that i loved to teach and talk on stage.  sometimes we find our path despite ourselves. the millionaire messenger was a fantastic and easy read to help open your eyes to yet another way to either create a career outside of a j-o-b

rediscover who you are and imagine who you could be

what does a book about the business of coffee have to with being genetically unemployable?  there seems to come a moment, at least one, in the process of accepting that you’ll never work for another employer again that brings about introspection.  Although i’m not finished reading this book i have found it to be inspiring from an individual viewpoint and as an entrepreneur, there are many business lessons we can learn from business books. obviously i’m currently reading the new book out by howard schultz, ceo of starbucks: onward, at a third of the way through he is really digging
