I have a different view on life, or maybe it’s the same view others have they just don’t share it.  Either way, I’m typically referred to by friends and colleague as strong, crazy, inspiring and smart.  So I’m going to run with it.

Emily Leach visiting Santa Fe, NMI grew up like most people my age, with two parents in a Christian home and learned that in order to succeed I needed to get an education and a job that will take me through to retirement.  Well, I just didn’t buy in to the whole scenario … but I followed along for quite a while.  In June of 1992, I literally got up from my cubicle at a great job in Houston, TX (that I went to college for) and quit with the plan to move to a city called Albuquerque.  Why?  Because I loved the name!

My son was only 2 years old at the time, and I was too naive to think that there may not be a job for me in this new city (that I had never been to yet).  It was the start of my journey to learning that I was indeed genetically unemployable.  Of course that’s easy to see looking back … but the journey was not without hardship.

As I sat in Albuquerque, NM just 5 days after making the decision to leave my life in Houston behind I needed to make money.  I knew one thing … Computer Aided Drafting, and I was really good at it!  So I got creative and broke open the yellow pages and started calling engineering firms and telling anyone that would listen what my skills were.  I only made it to the B’s when I het the jackpot that kept me busy as a contractor for the next 5 years; and eventually helped me migrate to my next career in network engineering.  Computers came natural for me, so as the infrastructures grew and it came time to migrate engineering CAD programs to networks I caught on in no time.  I used my experience in both engineering and understanding computers to build a new career; migrating CAD software to the network environment.  The next 4 years was spent implementing and designing network infrastructures for small engineering firms all the way up to Coca-Cola.  That my friends is inventing yourself and being open to opportunity … in 2001 my best opportunity yet came to me.

After completing an infrastructure overhaul I was asked to take on the Internet department for a furniture store … that is where I met one of my now best friends and learned all about the power of Search Engine Optimization.  That opportunity gave me this life I love and the opportunity to speak about how to use the Internet and I love it!

17 years after leaving Houston I have the life I dreamed of, working from almost anywhere so that I can travel and experience the world.  And I get to help individuals create successful online businesses using the experience I have gained in the Internet world of business.  More than anything I want to inspire people to create their life … anything is possible!

It is better to try and fail than to perfect mediocrity
